Funeral services for Anthony “Tony” Moreno Jr., 77, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 1:30PM. Mr. Moreno died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Tony was born November 20, 1935 in Moline, IL, the son of Anthony and Gabriela Terronez Moreno Sr. He served in the US Navy. He married Margaret Hernandez October 12, 1957 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. He had worked for the former International Harvester Works, East Moline, and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He had been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. He enjoyed golfing, bike riding, and was a Notre Dame Fan. He loved his family and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret Moreno, Silvis; daughters, Denise (Randy) Ramos, East Moline, Kathy (Kelvin) Frere, East Moline, Jackie (Bill) Sierra, Brighton, CO, Mary (Matt) Matthews Sr., East Moline, and Marlene Dyer, Silvis; son, Patrick (Kris) Moreno, Silvis; grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Eric, Michelle, Payton, Jessica, Heather, Brooke, Brandi, Ryan, Lacey, Mallory, Sadie, Ysabel, Matt Jr., Courtney, Chris, Brad, and Jesse; 17 great-grandchildren; mother, Gabriela Moreno, Silvis; sister, Carmen Sanchez, Silvis; brother, Robert (Lydia) Moreno, McKinney, TX. He is preceded in death by his father and brother, Carlos Moreno.
