SIERRA FAMILY REUNION MINUTES/2011 SIERRA GOLF OUTING

SIERRA Family Reunion Meeting                                                                              April 20th 2011

Meeting was called on the 20th of April 2011, time 6:00pm at Carol Curtis

In attendance: Miguela Molina, Angela Molina, Carol Curtis, Mark Reyes, Mona Reyes, Gilbert Sierra SR, Ramona Trout, Raylanda Campos, Peter Sierra, Caroline Sierra, Edith Glackin, Merci Gomez

Prayer –  said by Gilbert Sierra

Treasure – Carol says as of April 20th statement the balance is $2,450.26

Trivia Night – Peter’s comment we did have a late start but it was successful, we had four teams. Peter did all 100 question one was questionable. Great turnout!! Success!! Need more participation, the raffle donations and baskets were appreciated. Suggestions are increase advertising, attendance. Carol mention maybe having mandatory representation from each family for fun entertainment. We cleared $328.00. Suggest one River Bandit Basket with some tickets and miscellaneous articles, need to do some more brain storming.

River Bandit Tickets – Deadline July 18th, 2011

Fifteen and under free family members only, friends $5.00. Tickets for children Fun Zone $3.00. The game will be on Thursday August 11, 2011 doors open at 5:30pm. Each head is in charge of getting their families ticket orders and collect money. We will need names, birth date and ages. This information is needed to put names in correct bucket were we pull out winners to do the two adults and 2 children’s games. MAVA will be color guard for flag presentation. We were too late in requesting having our own singer for the National Anthem we will be singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”. Angela suggested to have Barbara Jean Sierra do the first pitch all agreed. Caroline will check with her. Other nominees were Richard Martinez (but he has a daughter getting married that weekend) and Jared Reyes.

T-Shirts – Deadline July 18th 2011 procedure to order will be announce later per Angela

Gilbert presented a design all agreed to used it, “A Family That Prays and Plays Together Stays Together” This year we will be able to order on line and pick up your own orders.

Gilbert suggested we do the Cemetery Walk every five years, possibly make a Virtual DVD of the walk so that we won’t have to rent a golf cart and trailer to save on expenders. Also that he has a generator. Ramona commented that the cemetery walk is a connection you make with your family. Miguela motioned to keep cemetery walk all agreed. Peter mention one reason for the Trivia Night is to generate money for expenses.

Peter suggested that possibly have Mark check for a different area in the park for the Rollie Bollie. Mark said he and son Jerome will check on that possibility.

Mark has been talking to some family members in during Rally Volleyball. Suggested that each family have two designated volley officials and they would get free T-Shirt

Note: Mark Reyes notified Angela Molina that space for Rollie Bollie would be fine to have at the Pavilion suggested. Angela has made reservation of Empire South for Friday August 12th 2011 from 4:00pm to 10:00pm. We are not allowed to have a fire pit. Reservation rates have increased. Angela paid $20.00 to be reimbursed.

    Rally Scoring in Volleyball

Rally scoring is a method of keeping score in volleyball that has become popular over the last several years, and is now used in almost all sanctioned forms of the game.

In the rally scoring system, a point is scored every time a rally (volley) concludes.
 
If the team that served the ball wins the rally and gets a point, they continue to serve, whereas if the receiving teams wins the point, their lineup rotates and they serve.

Course Rules and Local Rules

all players must report to the Pro Shop.
All players must have a set of clubs.
Proper attire must be worn at all times.
Foursomes ONLY preferred, smaller groups may be asked to join another group.
Slower players must let other players go ahead.
Repair divots and ball marks and rake bunkers.
Keep power carts 25 ft. from greens.
Soft spikes only
